Losing Our Heads With All the Chicken Fuss on Kickstarter

Chic!ken, the most successful Kickstarter book by Atellani, Matteo Tranchellini, Moreno Monti

Hi everyone! Last week we introduced you to our new live campaign, CHIC!ken the Photographic Collection. We're not sure how many of you had the chance to see how it's skyrocketing to the top of the charts on Kickstarter. The amount of pledges that have been pouring in over the weekend is phenomenal!

As we are achieving many important milestones, Kickstarter also awarded us with “Projects We Love”. It’s our second time since our FEBO campaign. What could be better than a community recognition? We are now way more than a 1000 backers! The entire team has worked with passion and the response has been a huge success. We couldn’t be more thrilled that so many people in the world share our passion. For that we are so grateful, THANK YOU!

There is a micro media frenzy going on. Numerous blogs and online sources have been reporting about our project. If you are up for smiling, listen to this funny radio station interview from Canada CBC with the photographers Matteo and Moreno. Fun guaranteed.

Tell Me More, Tell Me More, Was It Love At First Sight?

Some of you asked us to tell you more about how the CHIC!ken project came about. Here it is.

While we working on another campaign, a friend suggested that we go and have a look at this very small photographic exhibition. After spending ages to find a place to park, we entered this very small room full of chicken portraits. It was love at first sight. We had no idea that chickens could be this beautiful and fascinating! Some of us have always dreamed of having a chicken coop, but never got the chance to. So we ended up ordering five small prints and two XL prints to hang in our office. When Matteo and Moreno came to deliver the framed photographs we told them how smitten we were with their work. Just one question and everything changed: we asked if they had ever considered crowdfunding.

Matteo was familiar with Kickstarter and Moreno had already invested in several photographic projects too. So we set up a meeting to discuss the possibilities of a collaboration and here we are in the middle of a Kickstarter firestorm! Here’s a funny little anecdote that some of you might appreciate. That very same evening, after our meeting, we saw a chicken on one of the parked cars in our courtyard complex (no joke). Yes, in the city center of Milan! We looked at ourselves and thought “What are the chances”?! It all just seemed like a prank by the photographers. Instead, it was meant to be.

We were really in awe thanks to the coincidence.

Everything Happens For A Reason

Today with the campaign’s successful response, it’s a little hard not to believe in destiny. Sometimes things really do happen for a reason! We couldn’t be happier as our team has been full of positive energy these last 11 days! This project has broken barriers that even we ourselves didn’t know possible, but always secretly dreamed of.

Ok, now that you got an idea about how ecstatic we all are, please have a look for yourself at some unseen backstage footage. Sometimes when we work on campaigns, it's hard not to get jaded after reading the material so many times before the launch. CHIC!ken though has been lots of fun and maybe we're just giddy, but when we need a laugh this is where we go:
